And then the Ceiling Came Down

I know that it's been over four months since my last post - and that I owe a whoooole lotta updates and pictures and things we've been up to... but can we just talk about this picture of our kitchen in its current state?

It's what happens when your well meaning toddler leaves the upstairs sink faucet on while everyone is getting ready to leave for a little family outing to the library.  And then everyone does leave and the faucet is left running.

Oh, yes she did. (Insert note that it was a collaborated effort.  I'm not sure how I didn't catch that the faucet water was still running after she had plugged the drain to give her bath toys a little bath of their own in the sink while I pulled her hair back in a pony.  It's just a lot easier to point a finger when it comes to who was responsible. Hahaha!)

BUT, the good news is that we were only gone for an hour, Brant is a very handy guy, and the leak-turned-pool happening in the ceiling was over the kitchen.  This could have been catastrophic, but we've been wanting to replace the boxed fluorescent kitchen lights with canned lighting.  It was a lower priority project, but just found it's self at the top of the home improvement list.  It's like the canned lights knew this was the only way it was going to get it's chance.  Well done canned lighting.  Well done.

I know quite a few people that have had home remodels thanks to their little cuties leaving the water on.
Good luck with your remodel and getting canned lighting. You will have to follow up with a picture of the new ceiling.

Glad there was a silver lining to the little accident. :)

Yikes! But I am with you on the plus side though- we have horrible boxed florescent lighting in our kitchen that is at the bottom of my forever growing to do list! Can't wait to see the after pictures:))
